Congratulations to Dr. Erich Vogt on receiving the Order of British Columbia at a ceremony at Government House on June 22, 2006.

In the course of his career at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Vogt has taught thousands of undergraduate and graduate students and published numerous scholarly papers in the area of theoretical physics. Dr. Vogt was also a founder and one of the prime proponents of the TRIUMF project located at the University of British Columbia. TRIUMF has grown and prospered over the years and is now Canada's national laboratory for nuclear and particle physics.

The Order of British Columbia was established on April 21, 1989, to recognize those persons who have served with the greatest distinction and excelled in any field of endeavour benefiting the people of the Province or elsewhere. The Order represents the highest form of recognition the Province can extend to its citizens.
