The ATLAS Canada collaboration has elected Professor Robert A. McPherson (University of Victoria) as their new spokesperson. Professor McPherson completed his undergraduate work in engineering physics at the University of British Columbia and his graduate work at Princeton and is currently an IPP Scientist in residence at TRIUMF. Rob takes over as ATLAS Canada Spokesperson from Professor Robert S. Orr (University of Toronto) who successfully guided the group during funding (from NSERC) and construction. He oversaw the successful completion of the Canadian contribution to the ATLAS detector on time and on budget and then on into the detector installation and commissioning phase. Bob is handing over the management of the Canadian team to the younger generation as ATLAS enters into its critical data taking era.

ATLAS, at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, is the premiere project in the next generation of particle physics experiments. ATLAS Canada consists of about 40 Canadian faculty members at 11 universities and institutes and is the largest team in Canadian particle physics. For more information visit ATLAS Canada.
