The Honourable Mike Lake visits TRIUMF

On January 13, 2015, TRIUMF played host to the Honourable Mike Lake, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry, and Member of Parliament (Edmonton — Mill Woods — Beaumont). Mr. Lake made a stop at TRIUMF to view the facilities and meet with members of the leadership team. He was introduced to TRIUMF’s dynamic and multi-disciplinary research program, and saw first-hand how the laboratory’s translates research excellence into economic and societal benefits for Canada.

“We were delighted to have the Honourable Mike Lake visit TRIUMF,” said Dr. Jonathan Bagger, TRIUMF Director. “We always welcome the opportunity to share TRIUMF’s groundbreaking research and discoveries with the federal government.”

Highlights of the visit included a tour of the site, as well as discussion of TRIUMF’s nuclear medicine program. Following the recent announcement of TRIUMF successful large-scale demonstration of its Tc-99m production technology, Dr. Paul Schaffer, head of TRIUMF's nuclear medicine program, outlined the promise of next-generation technologies and health solutions being developed at TRIUMF.

TRIUMF thanks Mr. Lake for the productive and informative visit, and we look forward to seeing him again soon.
