North American Occupational Safety and Health Week 2017

We all have roles and responsibilities when it comes to health and safety. Our commitment to health and safety is our commitment to taking care of ourselves and each other.

With that, TRIUMF is embracing this year's North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week from May 7 to 13 and offering special programming at the laboratory.

NAOSH week is an annual, continent-wide event where employers, workers, and all partners in occupational health and safety collaborate to promote injury and illness prevention in the workplace.  NAOSH Week was first launched in June 1997, marked by an agreement between Canada, the United States and Mexico. NAOSH Week is led by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) — a safety practitioner organization that works with industry, government, and other safety organizations, to promote a greater awareness of health, safety and environmental issues in workplaces and communities.

The goal during Safety and Health Week is to focus employers, employees, partners and the public on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home, and in the community.

Each year employers and safety associations urge everyone to get involved in NAOSH Week in an effort to better educate their employees and the public about the positive benefits a safe workplace provides not only for workers, but for their families, friends, businesses, their local community and the global community.
