How to Submit a Proposal

MMS & SAP EEC Process

Three-Step Process

  1. Request experiment number from the Science Division by email (sciencediv@triumf.ca). The email should include the names and email addresses of the Spokespersons, the title of the experiment, and indicate if it is for the Molecualar & Materials Science or Subatomic Physics Experiments Evaluation Committee (EEC).
  2. Once you have your experiment number, go to the Spokesperson Portal and create your submission for the next meeting and fill out all of the information. Be sure to upload the Detailed Statement and Spokesperson Publications as per the outlined rules for both MMS* and SAP**.
  3. Submit your proposal to the EEC (once it is submitted it can no longer be edited). You will have to make a presentation (usually ~15-20 minutes) to the EEC and submit the slides for your presentation the week of the EEC meeting.

*General Rules for MMS:

  1. Detailed Statements for New Proposals and Progress Reports are not to exceed 4 pages (including figures and references). The font size should be Times New Roman 12 or equivalent. Publications should be not included but cited as references.
  2. The Publications file should not exceed 1 page. The papers listed should be of direct and immediate relevance.

**General Rules for SAP:

  1. Detailed Statements for New Proposals and Progress Reports are not to exceed 10 pages (including figures and references). The font size should be Times New Roman 12 or equivalent. Publications should be not included but cited as references.

In the summer 2007 MMS and SAP EEC meetings, Research Proposals and Progress Reports were accepted for the first time via online submission.

Part of each submission involves uploading PDF documents to be included with the Proposal or Progress Report. Experimenters that are required to submit a progress report are those that are seeking stage 2 approval and those that have been granted stage 2 approval but have not used any beam time for a two year period (must submit a report to have the stage 2 status maintained - this rule is flexible, so if you are not sure please email sciencediv@triumf.ca).

The PDF documents that need to be submitted should be generated from the MS Word or LaTex templates below:

  • for Research Proposals, and for ISAC Experiments Seeking Stage 2 Approval:
  • for Progress Reports:

For new experimenters that would like screen-by-screen instructions please click on the link below for the PDF of the Detailed Instructions.

LSPEC Process

Three-Step Process

  1. Request experiment number from the Nuclear Medicine Division by email (numed-division@triumf.ca). The email should include the names and email addresses of the Spokespersons and the title of the experiment.
  2. Once you have your experiment number, fill in the Research Proposal or Progress Report forms and email them to numed-division@triumf.ca.
  3. You can submit the forms in either PDF or MS Word format. You will have to make a presentation to the LSPEC and submit the slides for your presentation the week of the LSPEC meeting (usually ~15-20 minutes).

Research Proposal and Progress Report Forms for Life Sciences (LSPEC) are available in MS Word format. It is expected that LSPEC will accept online submissions by April 2011.
