Following from the previous talk "Introduction to Iterative Learning Control (ILC)" where I talked about criteria for the stability of iterative learning algorithms, I will sail into uncharted territory on the crest of a wave. Established criteria use Z-domain and eigenvalue-domain tests of convergence; but neither test fully explains the behaviour of actual iteration in the time domain. Speaker will present a case that these failures result from ignoring the wave-like solutions of the iteration algorithms.
