TRIUMF Five-Year Plan Nears Completion

04 June 2008

The principal support for TRIUMF's operations is through a contribution via National Research Council Canada (NRC). NRC funding is awarded in five-year increments to the laboratory which dictates the schedule for preparing the Five-Year Plan (5YP). The current five-year funding period ends in 2010 and a new plan is needed to plan activities 2010-2015 and to request the necessary funds to do so. A large number of people around the site (and even across Canada) have been feverishly working on the formal report more than a year.

The Five-Year Plan (5YP) is nearing completion. At long last, the series of nearly a dozen separate high-level reviews, weekly meetings, and busy days and nights is coming to closure. As shown here, key contributor Chris Oram is holding yesterday's printed draft of the report which is nearly 700 pages long. The DHL van in the background is incidental...the report is not quite ready for sending to Ottawa!

Although the final report will be designed and published by an external vendor, Mindy Hapke from the Design Office has played a critical role in preparing more than 200 separate high-quality images and photographs to illustrate the full plan.

Director Nigel Lockyer will be formally presenting the 5YP on June 8, 2008, at the upcoming CAP Congress in Quebec City. If you're attending the conference, please look for the session, and if you haven't registered, please consider going at the last minute! It promises to be a great meeting...
