TRIUMF PSRC Meeting

The Committee noted that the minutes from the last meeting had been posted on the PSRC’s web site and expressed its thanks to Phil Jones for taking care of the matter so promptly. All Committee members should review the site for old material so that outdated content can be identified and removed. The issue of posting photos of all PSRC members was briefly revisited. No attending Committee members had objections to having their photos made available however those absent should be consulted as well.
All Division Heads (with the exception of Technology Transfer, where no changes were made) have met with their staff to review the re-organization of TRIUMF. The proposal appears to be a `fait accompli’ however no formal announcement has been made and no letters have been sent to individuals regarding changes that affect their reporting structure. Some Job Descriptions will have to be revised to align all documentation but there does not appear to be a timetable for the work.
PSRC members had other concerns about the re-organization:
- Some staff members may have relatives in subordinate positions
- Some critical positions appear to have been eliminated
- Some positions had been combined with other positions
- The functions of individuals are not represented by the positions in the organizational chart making it more difficult to replace the many people who will be retiring
Stu Austen will ask Jim Hanlon to address these concerns in a future PSRC meeting.
It was decided to keep the first Thursday of each month free for possible PSRC meetings. The start time for future meetings will be 13:00.
