TRIUMF PSRC Meeting

July 22, 2010 13:00 – 14:00

Attending: Stu Austen (Chair), Curtis Ballard, John Drozdoff, Niki Martin,  Mike Mouat and Doug Preddy

1. PPR Increases/Bonuses & Ratings

There was concern expressed regarding how the PPR Increases/Bonuses were administered in relation to PPR ratings that were given. We would like to find out if everyone in the P&S Group were treated equally, were P&S treated equally compared with the other groups? How many P&S received an increase of steps or bonus or both? What are the criteria for granting step increases or bonuses, is there a formula? For supervisors, it would be nice to know ahead of time what the criteria is. Also for the supervisors, it would be nice to know ahead of time if and what the subordinates increase/bonus will be, in order to foresee issues. There was discussion regarding how the Division Heads review the ratings and increases/bonuses – concern that Division Heads are relatively new and do not see everyone at work. Mike Mouat is going to sit down and discuss this with Josie Farrell (maybe write a letter with our points), but meet with her instead of discussing over email.

The PSRC would like to improve its relationship with HR and get over the us vs. them mentality. We would like to meet with Josie face-to-face in order to understand how things work during this process. Mike Mouat will distribute the findings of his meeting via email.

It seems as though there is a general lack of communication over the Employee Groups. We would like to know how our Employee Group is doing compared to the other two.

2. Posting of Minutes

We have decided to approve the minutes from each meeting via email. Corrections should be emailed for Niki Martin to update.

3. AOB

Parking – Curtis Ballard believes that parking pass control will be reverted to UBC next year when prices increase to UBC prices due to the fact that there is so much opposition and it is difficult to enforce right now.
