TRIUMF's 20-year Vision ThoughtExchange

TRIUMF is undertaking an effort to develop a 20-year vision for the laboratory; this process seeks to project the lab's key areas of potential development for the period up to 2042. The exercise will consider the need for new facilities, infrastructure, practices, and behaviors to support successful outcomes. More information about this work can be found on the TRIUMF website.

In an effort to seek broad community feedback, TRIUMF is now beginning community consultations via online channels. The primary route for feedback at this time will come via ThoughtExchange – an online platform that seeks to be inclusive of all voices and allows the community to share and rank the ideas that resonate most strongly.

Participation in the ThoughtExchange involves three basic steps:

  • Sharing your own Thoughts
  • Starring the ideas of others
  • Discovering what ideas the community feels strongly about

The ThoughtExchange platform collects no personal information, so all ideas and ratings are anonymous. Only very broad segmentation information on each participant is requested.

You can access the ThoughtExchange platform using this link. This exercise will help identify the ideas that most resonate with the community, and these will then be fed back to the various Topical Groups as one of the inputs into their listening and visioning activities.

Complementing the ThoughtExchange effort, a Topical Group survey has been developed that allows for response in greater detail on areas of specific research and program development. This survey is open-ended and also collects no personal information.

The links to the ThoughtExchange consultation platform and Topical Group survey are sharable and should be accessible from any web-connected device. The feedback channels will be open until March 22nd, 2021. During this time, you can provide ideas multiple timesin fact, we’d encourage checking the ThoughtExchange more than once in order to review the new ideas that will have emerged since your last visit.

Data from both the ThoughtExchange and Topical Group survey will be aggregated around major themes to help analyze commonalities and differences across TRIUMF’s various stakeholder communitiesThe outputs from this work will be utilized as input for developing the high-level pillars of the vision and its supporting elements.

Thank you in advance for your participation and contributions to TRIUMF’s future.

Sincerely,

Reiner Kruecken
Deputy Director, Research
