Behind the scenes at the world’s laboratories

During a Global Physics Photowalk event, hundreds of amateur and professional photographers have the rare opportunity to go behind-the-scenes at world leading science facilities. In the past, this has included labs like CERN (Switzerland), DESY (Germany), Fermilab (USA), Frascati National Laboratory and Gran Sasso National Laboratory (Italy), KEK (Japan), SLAC (USA), SUPL (Australia), and TRIUMF (Canada).

The Interactions Collaboration invites participating photographers to submit photos for local and global competitions. Each laboratory will conduct local competitions and offer prizes to local winners. Furthermore, in the spirit of friendly competition, the top photos from each laboratory's local competition will be entered in two global competitions: a jury competition and a people's choice competition conducted via online vote. Global winners will have the opportunity to be featured in science magazines, such as Symmetry magazine and the CERN Courier, and as part of a travelling exhibit across laboratories in Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America.
