Each term, the TRIUMF Student Program offers a numberof Professional Development Workshops for students.

Some are conducted in cooperation with the UBC IsoSIM program. 

Topics and number of workshops vary from term to term. 

   

Example Workshops

Presentation Skills Workshop

Interactive full day workshop that will enables you to increase your confidence in any presentation setting.

The workshop is carried out by UBC's Centre for Teaching Learning and Technology.

Following completion of this workshop you will be able to:

• Plan and organize an effective presentation
• Become aware of elements that contribute to an effective presentation delivery
• Efficiently structure a short presentation with a limited amount of time
 
This workshop is a great perparation for the Student Symposium, that usually follows a few weeks after the PSW.
 
Project Management Workshop
 Interactive half day workshop and extended seminar that teaches about management skills. Whether you are directing a research project, a business venture, a department or a group of scholars, your career will benefit from the mastery of project management skills. Learn how to lead groups to finish projects on time and within budget.

About the presenter:

Vijay K. Verma (PMI Fellow, PMP, MBA, P.Eng,) is an internationally known consultant, speaker, trainer and author. Mr. Verma has more than 25 years of project management experience. He has presented numerous workshops for many project managers from a wide variety of industries. He has written the three-volume series Human Aspects of Project Management, published by the Project Management Institute, which includes Organizing Projects for Success (Vol. 1), Human Resource Skills for the Project Manager (Vol. 2), and Managing the Project Team (Vol. 3).
